We have had some lovely days and cooler nights as we come to the end of summer. We hired a large mower from Ben Burgess to cut back the wildflower areas. Michael spent hours making sure the area was cut as low as possible, to get rid of the reeds. We hope to have a greater range of wildflowers because of this.
Aysel came to volunteer with us. We cut back the overgrowth on the paths and worked on the bird hide, weaving the willow in to develop the shape.
Each time we come to the woodlands Steve sets up his moth trap. In the morning we release them after Mary takes photos. Then it is the long task of identifying them,
However, Steve now has a new Iphone. When checking through the photos for best shots, Mary accidentally touched the touched the i button. Imagine our surprise when the common and scientific names came up underneath the photos! We checked to make sure of the identification and they were correct. Always good to have something new to learn.
We were very pleased to get a good photo of the burnished brass moth looking so brassy.
